Bio

Andrew Scott Clyde (born November 22, 1963) is an American politician and gun dealer from the state of Georgia. A Republican, Clyde is the representative for Georgia's 9th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, assuming office in 2021. The district serves a large swath of exurban and rural territory north of Atlanta, including Gainesville, Toccoa, Dawsonville and Dahlonega. Clyde ran in 2020 to represent Georgia's 9th congressional district. The same year he sued Athens, Georgia, on its shelter-in-place Covid restrictions. As a representative, Clyde voted against certifying 2020 U.S. presidential election results in the states of Arizona and Pennsylvania. He described the 2021 United States Capitol attack as "no insurrection", with some of those entering the Capitol acting "in an orderly fashion" resembling a normal tourist visit, even though he acknowledged that he had helped to barricade the House chamber "from the mob who tried to enter".
